Planning for aged care

I wanted to give you an update on a topic we are finding more important than ever for many of our clients and let you know about resources you have access to through Astier and where we can help.

No one likes to talk about getting older and the truth is, most of us avoid thinking about our own future aged care needs, delaying our decisions until perhaps they’re taken out of our hands.

But families who can plan ahead and talk about aged care have the best opportunity to find appropriate care and make well-informed decisions when the time comes, reducing stress and uncertainty.

So, when’s the best time to start planning for aged care? We think there’s three key reasons to start thinking about it now.

  1. You might be looking to start the conversation early with parents or loved ones, giving them the opportunity to think about what is important to them and you a guide if you need to make choices for them in the future.
  2. You might be progressing through retirement and want to plan ahead for the cost of care so your family doesn’t have to second guess your wishes if you can’t make decisions for yourself.
  3. You might be in the later stages of retirement and thinking about your future options. This could be getting some extra help to stay in your own home and live independently, or maybe you want to explore retirement living or residential care to improve your quality of life.

If any of these situations resonate with you or your family, it is definitely the time to seek aged care personal advice for help with what it will cost and financial decisions.

How we can help

Getting advice on aged care is important, but not all advice is good advice. Aged care financial advice is a specialist area. The rules change constantly, as do the available strategies. You don’t need extra stress wondering if you’ve received quality advice!

This is why Andrew Mabarrack in our office has qualified as an Accredited Aged Care Professional™ and has been recognised as a Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) Aged Care Specialist™ to ensure we have the skills and knowledge to give you the right advice.

You can download our latest client resource Planning for aged care which outlines some key steps to help navigate through the aged care maze and where to get help.

If you want to find out more information on aged care or to start a chat about your needs, please feel free to call our office or reach out to me.
